Ten people were killed and 34 others injured in road accidents across the country yesterday. Our Chittagong correspondent reports, two persons were killed and two others injured when a car carrying them collided head-on with a covered van on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Banshbaria in Sitakunda upazila yesterday. The dead were Jamshed Alam, 65, and Shafi Ullah, 25, of Mirsarai upazila.
Our Jhalakathi correspondent reports, a schoolboy was killed as a bus ran him over on Khulna-Barisal highway at Pingri in Rajpur upazila yesterday.
The deceased was Rubel Islam, 15, son of Horun Howlader.
Rubel after being hit by a motorbike fell on the road when the bus ran him over. Two persons, who were on the motorbike, also got injured.
Following the accident, police suspended vehicular movement on the road for an hour to avoid any kind of vandalism.
Our Natore correspondent reports, two people were killed and 30 others injured when two trucks were hit by an oncoming bus at Tebaria in Natore Sadar upazila early yesterday.
Deceased cattle trader Rasel Hossain, 25, of Rajshahi, was in one of the trucks and Tariqul Islam, 35, was the truck helper.
Twelve of the injured were admitted to Natore Sadar Hospital while 16 others to Rajshahi Medical Collage Hospital and the remaining others only needed first aid.
A Chuadanga correspondent adds, a motorcyclist, Mohibul Islam, 24, died after a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit the vehicle from behind at Kathal Tola in Joyrampur village in Damurhuda upazila yesterday.
A case was filed.
Our Dinajpur correspondent adds, a bus passenger, hanging out the bus door, died as he fell on the road after being hit by a locally-made three-wheeler at Raniganj in Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur yesterday.
The victim was Shahidul Islam, 42, teacher of Islamic History of Ghoraghat Degree College.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent adds, Sakirul Islam, 8, son of Sau Miah of Chanpur village, died when an oncoming bus hit him on Sylhet-Chittagong road in Chanpur area of Nabiganj upazila in Habiganj yesterday.
Locals blockaded the road for an hour protesting the accident.
A Comilla correspondent reports, two kids of a family were killed as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit them while they were playing before their houses at Kandirpar in Laksham upazila yesterday.
The dead were Subarna Akther, 7, daughter of Imam Hossain, and Mafuzur Rahman, 6, son of Anwar Hossain.
Following the accident, agitated locals blocked the road for over two hours.
