Four people were killed and 13 others injured in separate road accidents in Moulvibazar, Satkhira, Gaibandha and Manikganj yesterday.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent reports: One man was killed and another injured as a Kulaura-bound microbus collided head-on with a speedy truck coming from opposite direction on Moulvibazar-Kulaura road in Chatura area in Moulvibazar yesterday.
The deceased is Md Jamal Mia, 32, driver of the microbus, son of late Abdur Rahman, of Joypasa village of Kulaura upazila.
The seriously injured Enamul Islam Enam, owner of the microbus, admitted to the Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet.
Police said the truck driver with his vehicle fled away after the accident.
Our Satkhira correspondent says: A bicyclist was killed as a Satkhira-bound truck hit his bicycle from behind on Satkhira-Jessore road in front of Satkhira Shishu Hospital in the town yesterday.
The deceased is Abdul Karim, 65, son of Md Sher Ali, of village Banshghata of Sadar upazila.
Our Gaibandha correspondent adds: One woman was killed and nine others sustained injuries as a Dhaka-bound bus of Nabil Paribahan and a tempo collided head-on on the Rangpur-Bogra highway at Balua bazar yesterday.
The deceased is identified Maloti Rani, 48.
The injured were admitted to Bogra Medical College Hospital and Gobindaganj Health Complex.
Our Manikganj correspondent says: An old man was killed and three others were injured when a Dhaka-bound pickup van hit four passersby from behind on the Dhaka-Aricha highway at Barobaria in Dhamrai upazila yesterday.
The victim is Niaz Uddin, 70, of Gandulia village of Dhamrai.
Agitating locals blocked the highway for half an hour protesting the accident.
