Mobile operator Robi’s revenue stood at Tk 962.70 crore in the second quarter (April-June) of the current year, growing by 16.20 per cent over the same period of last year.
At a press briefing in the city on Tuesday, Robi managing director and CEO Micheal Kuehner said that Q2 was one of the successful quarters for Robi.
Robi also netted in 15 lakh subscribers in Q2 with a growth of 26 per cent from the same quarter of last year, said its chief financial officer Mahtab Uddin Ahmed.
‘Robi has achieved Tk 324.40 crore in Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortisation [EBITDA] in Q2 of FY12 driven by higher revenue and operational efficiency,’ he said.
He said the steadily increasing EBITDA margin reached 33.7 per cent in Q2, which is highest in last six quarters.
He said that the company’s earning from value
added services grew by 25.87 per cent in the Q2, which is highest in last eight quarters.
Besides, Robi has added 37 new BTSs in the Q2 that made the total BTS number 8,392.
The company gave Tk 393.20 crore in taxes and VAT to the government exchequer in Q2, he said.
The operator has also crossed 2 crore subscriber base in Bangladesh recently.
