The two-day rock music fair organised at the Drik Gallery in Dhanmondi got positive response from the rock music lovers
for its atypical characteristics.
Besides enjoying music performed by the underground bands, viewers enthusiastically participated in interactions with the rockers, lyricists, sound engineers and music video makers. They also flocked at the stalls displaying various merchandises with logos of different musicians and bands.
The first ever Dhaka Rock Music Fair, ended on Sunday, was jointly organsied by NJ Events and Communications and Animax Records that brought together rockers, lyricists, sound engineers, concert photographers, music video makers and music schools under one roof.
The fair had about 15 stalls which displayed various T-shirts, mugs and other commodities containing signature and logos of the bands as well as the leading rockers. Emon, a member of a music school named Music Planet, said that they got very good response from the audience. ‘Many people are coming to the fair and are eager to know more about rock music,’ Emon told New Age.
Saki a member of Shock Wave, an organisation of concert photography, said, ‘It’s a good initiative as it created interactions between different stakeholders related to the rock music.’ The venue was full of visitors, mostly students. Nadia Rizvi, a student of Maple Leaf School, said ‘I’m a little crazy about rock music and am really excited coming here.’
‘I’ve seen different types of fairs but rock music fair is undoubtedly an out-of-the-box idea,’ observed Russell Ahmed, a college student.
