The grand finale of the musical talent hunt for garment workers, “Premier Bank Garbo Gao Pran Khuley Gao” [by BGMEA], was held on March 19 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the event as chief guest. Commerce Minister, Faruk Khan; LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam and State Minister for Labour and Employment, Munnujan Sufian were also present as special guests at the finale.
Roksana Khatun won the title, ‘Garbo of Bangladesh’. As part of the prize, she received a cheque worth Tk 10 lakh and a crest. First runner-up Pavel Rahman received Tk 6 lakh, while second runner-up Rajibul Islam got Tk 4 lakh.
FBCCI President AK Azad, along with the dignitaries, handed over the prizes to the winners.
Roksana Khatun is from Rangpur and works as a senior operator at DBL Group. Pavel Rahman works as a packing operator at Hot Dress Limited; he is from Magura. Rajibul Islam is a sample supervisor at Chaity Group, and is from Barisal.
Rest of the top ten contestants — Priya Das, Mejbah Uddin Hiru, Muraduzzaman, Farhad Hossain, Rakibul Hossain, Shaheen and Sagar Roy — received Tk 1 lakh each while Abdur Razzak and Rani Das got special awards worth Tk one and a half lakh.
Hosted by Munmun and Tania, the programme was aired live on Banglavision. Banglavision was the media partner of the programme.
The panel of jury included noted music director Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul, and renowned singers Sabina Yasmin and Asif Akbar.
