Cristiano Ronaldo and girlfriend Irina Shayk have ended their relationship after five years, Shayk’s representative has confirmed, reports bleacherreport.com.
After rumours about the couple grew when Shayk was not present at the Ballon d’Or presentation on Monday—an event at which Ronaldo was crowned the world’s best footballer by his peers—the model’s representative told Stephanie Smith of Page Six that they had split, saying simply: ‘We can confirm Irina Shayk has ended her relationship to Cristiano Ronaldo.’
Chatter grew amid reports that Ronaldo and Shayk had unfollowed one another on social media. Further rumours had suggested that Shayk had upset Ronaldo after failing to attend a party for his mother’s birthday, but these were denied by the Shayk’s agent:
‘She has been close with his family throughout the course of their relationship. Any negative rumors with regards to Irina and the Ronaldo family are completely false, and have not been a factor in the cause of the spilt. Irina has no further comment at the time.’
