Rony Talukdar, the prolific run scorer of the domestic circuit, struck yet another ton as his side Walton Central Zone finished the first day of their Bangladesh Cricket League match against Prime Bank South Zone with 248-7 at Fatullah on Thursday. Opener Rony scored 106 runs with 19 boundaries and a six while Roqibul Hassan scored 42, Marshal Ayub made 32 and Rony’s opening partner Shamsur Rahman scored 30 runs after their side won the toss and decided to bat first.
Veteran Abdur Razzak of Prime Bank picked up two wickets while Mustafizur Rahman, Sohag Gazi and Mosaddek Hossain picked up one wicket apiece in the innings where their fielders made two run-outs.
In the other match at Chittagong, Islami Bank East Zone finished the day with 250-4 against BCB North Zone thanks to an innings of 86 not out from stand-in captain Alok Kapali with some good support of Shadman Islam and Asif Ahmed.
Shadman Islam made 69 runs while opening the batting and Asif will resume with Alok on 52 to carry forward their 93-run unbeaten partnership in the second day.
Muktar Ali, Mahmudul Hasan, Sanjamul Islam and Saqlain Sajib picked one wicket each for North Zone.
These two matches will complete the second round of BCL where Prime Bank are leading the table by winning their first match against BCB and just ahead by virtue of bonus points from Islami Bank who won against Walton in their first match.
