Pacer Rubel Hossain has set himself a target to be among the best three bowlers at the upcoming World Cup as the Bangladesh national team finished their three-day preparation camp in Chittagong on Friday.
Rubel, who injured his right-hand index finger while trying to catch a ball coming from Tamim’s bat during practice at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium just a day before the left for Chittagong, bowled a few overs in the nets during the last day’s practice session at the Johur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
However, skipper Sakib al Hasan along with Imrul Kayes, Shafiul Islam, Abdur Razzak, Junaed Siddique and Nazmul Hossain skipped the practice session at the stadium and instead had a gym work.
‘I want to get my name included among the best three bowlers in the upcoming World Cup,’ Rubel Hossain told reporters at the stadium
‘Though there is a little pain in my finger still I didn’t had any problem in bowling,’ said Rubel.
He was also satisfied with their preparation in the port city as it allowed the players to adapt to the condition where two World Cup matches are scheduled to be played along with a warm-up game.
‘This camp will certainly benefit us as we have two World Cup matches at this venue. We came here to get ourselves accustomed to this condition and we have done it quite well as we could also practise under the floodlights,’ said Rubel. Bangladesh team returned from Chittagong on Friday and they are expected to start their preparation camp in Dhaka on February 7.
