Prime Bank South Zone amassed 538-8 replying to 413 runs of Walton Central Zone in their Bangladesh Cricket League game at Fatullah at the end of third day on Saturday thanks to three centuries scored by Shahriar Nafees, Mosaddek Hossain and Sohag Gazi. Resuming on 125-0, South Zone lost the opening batsman Anamul Haque for 83 when the score was 168 but Shahriar continued strongly to score 161 runs.
Shahriar, who struck 19 fours and a six, found a worthy partner in Mosaddek, who scored a magnificent 153 and added 118 runs with former Test opener.
Mosaddek hit 10 boundaries and seven massive sixes and shared another significant partnership of 185 runs with Sohag Gazi, who showed his all-round ability once again with a score of 106 from 102 balls.
The discarded off-spinner, who will resume the last day as a not out batsman, struck six boundaries and eight fours in his swashbuckling innings.
Despite all these batting heroics left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain picked all but one wicket that fell to finish the day with a figure of 7-171. Tanvir Haider picked up the only other wicket in the innings.
In the other match at Chittagong BCB North Zone opener Junaed Siddique missed his double ton against Islami Bank East Zone for just seven runs being run out on 193.
His team posted 384 all out in reply to 473 made by East Zone that rode on the double ton of Alok Kapali.
Resuming on 63-1 North Zone were benefitted by three fifty plus partnerships, all featuring Junaid. None of his partners however could cross 40.
Junaid clubbed 17 boundaries and two sixes of his 475-minute long innings where he consumed 285 balls.
Nazmul Apu was the pick of the bowlers for East Zone as he grabbed three wickets.
East Zone will resume on the final day with a lead of 89 runs.
