Bangladesh’s star footballer Sabina Khatun returned home on Tuesday after a memorable debut season with the Police Club of Maldives. Sabina became the first Bangladeshi female footballer to play in an overseas football league and she made it memorably by scoring 37 goals in just six matches including an astonishing 16-goal in one match. Sabina, who left the country on March 4, was happy with her performance though she could only help Police finishing as runners-up.
‘A lot of Bangladeshis live in Maldives. After they finish their works they used to come and watch me playing,’ she said. ‘I made the expatriates proud with my performances on the pitch and it was a big achievement for me,’ said Sabina.
‘I tried to put up my usual performance and I think I lifted the image of country with my performances there [Maldives].
