Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar will arrive in Dhaka on October 14 to unveil the logo of new Dhaka Premier League club Legends of Rupganj, the club announced on Wednesday. The Bangladesh Cricket Board approved the name ‘Legends of Rupganj’ in its Tuesday’s meeting for defending champions Gazi Tank Cricketers that was taken over by a new management last year. Lutfur Rahman Badal, the chairman of Legends said at a press conference that he wants to launch the club in a glittering way, which prompted him to invite Sachin for the programme.
‘There is no better legend in the cricketing world other than Sachin Tendulkar to launch Legends of Rupganj,’ Lutfar said at the press conference,
‘I was trying to convince him for the last one year to attend the programme. He is a very good friend of mine, so I was confident that he would come.’
Lutfar said Sachin will arrive in a chartered flight from Guwahati in the morning and will spend the day in Dhaka for this private programme. He is also expected to visit a local school during his brief stay.
‘My aim is to produce some legends from the club. I am sure Sachin’s presence will inspire me,’ he said.
