The South Asian Football Federation is all set to transfer its secretariat in Dhaka from New Delhi after incumbent general secretary Alberto Colaco submitted his resignation recently.
FIFA on November 27 slapped a three-year ban on Colaco for taking bribe during 2009 FIFA executive committee election. Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin, who is also the SAFF president, said he has proposed the name of former BFF general secretary Anwarul Haque Helal as his replacement.
Four out of eight SAFF members including Bangladesh have already gave their consent about Helal, Salahuddin said, adding that he is optimistic about getting the positive nod from others.
I spoke to the presidents Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bhutan and they agreed to appoint Helal as new secretary,’ said Salahuddin. ‘Now I will talk to other members, hopefully they will also agree.’
Salahuddin said if Helal is appointed general secretary then he will shift the secretariat in Dhaka to facilitate the work.
