Post and telecommunication minister Sahara Khatun on Saturday said information communication technology-based services should be introduced to the postal department for its survival.
Services of the postal department should go online through utilising ICT, she told a function in Dhaka, an official release said.‘The postal department faces extinction as the world now has entered ICT-based services. So, there is no alternative but to introduce online services for survival in the competitive market’, Sahara added.
Post and telecommunication secretary Md Abu Bakkar Siddiq, managing director of Sonali Bank Habibur Rahman and director general of postal department Nayeb Delwar, among others, addressed the function.
Sahara said the present government has taken steps to introduce ICT-based services instead of traditional one for modernising postal department.
