Bangladesh national football team’s Belgian coach Tom Sainfiet will return today to take charge of the team ahead of their forthcoming Asian Cup Qualifying play-offs against Bhutan, ending all speculations regarding his future. Saintfiet left Dhaka on July 31 without signing his contract which raised some doubts about his intention. The 41-year old Belgian, who was linked with a job with Nigeria, however, agreed to sign a short-term deal thus time ahead of September 6 and October 10, said the officials of the Bangladesh Football Federation.
He is expected to watch the sixth round matches of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League before announcing the squad, possibly on August 21.
The BFF officials said they are keen to sign a deal with English technical director Paul Smalley simultaneously.
Meanwhile, BFF officials said Bangladesh will fly to Maldives on August 30 to play a FIFA friendly match against the hosts as part of their preparation for their play-offs against Bhutan.
