Pace bowler Sajidul Islam and batsman Mominul Haque are eager to perform as they wait for their chances in the second Test match against Zimbabwe beginning from April 25.
Bangladesh were humiliated in the first Test by 335 runs and are looking to change there fortune in order to square the two-match Test series.‘I am not sure whether I will play but chances are there that I might. If I am included I will try to perform,’ Sajedul told reporters in Harare on Monday.
‘I saw there is a bit of grass on the other wicket so there will be lot of help for the pace bowlers,’ said Sajidul, whose omission in the first Test as the third seamer was critsised.
Sajidul added that bowling full length was effective in the first Test and if given an opportunity would try to do so.
‘I think Robiul (Islam) was effective bowling fuller. It became difficult for batsmen because the ball seemed to move,’ he said.
Batsman Mominul is also looking to grab the opportunity after unfortunately missing the first Test.
‘We could not perform to our potential but that won’t happen in the next game,’ said Mominul.
‘I don’t have any pressure as I had not played against Zimbabwe earlier but if it arises I will try to deal with it,’ he added. Mominul was dropped despite being successful on the tour of Lanka for which the team management was also heavily criticised.
