Tamim Iqbal tasted success against Sakib al Hasan in their friendly-rivalry for the second time in a row as his Nottinghamshire beat Worcestershire by 25 runs to finish top of the North Group of Friends Life Twenty20 competition on Friday.
Tamim took the catch of Sakib as he did in their previous encounter to end his innings on 13 after the all-rounder hit two successive sixes to reach 13 off just five balls. Worcestershire stumbled to 142 all out replying to Notts’ 167-6, which ended their all hopes of progressing to the quarter-finals.
Tamim, however, had no contribution to Notts’ daunting total as he was out for a third-ball duck. There was a huge confusion over his score as some reports mentioned that he had made 55 off 43 balls, though they were quickly amended.
The match was not shown live on television, which led to the confusion. The runs were later attributed to
Nottinghamshire’s Australian cricketer Adam Voges, who was adjudged man of the match.
There was no confusion about the performance of Sakib, however, as he reserved his worst for his final appearance in the tournament when he conceded 40 runs in his four overs to claim only one wicket.
The duo are expected to return home on July 17.
