Sakib al Hasan is expected to be confirmed as the Bangladesh captain for the upcoming World Cup today during an extra-ordinary meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Sakib has become an automatic choice for the captaincy after the latest injury to Mashrafee bin Murtaza, who had the backing of many BCB directors for the prestigious job in the showpiece event.
The BCB meeting has only two agenda for discussion – the captaincy issue and the outstanding television revenue of BCB’s marketing agent Nimbus Sports International.
Sakib led Bangladesh to a historic 4-0 win over New Zealand after regular captain Mashrafee was injured in the first match. He was given full-fledged captaincy for the first time during the Zimbabwe series which Bangladesh won by 3-1 margin.
