Sakib al Hasan has made big jump in the latest ICC ranking for one-day batsmen, moving 15 places up from his previous ranking to be placed at 26th, the International Cricket Council said on Monday.
The latest ranking made him the highest ranked Bangladeshi batsman, bowler and all-rounder, a feat rarely achieved by any cricketer from any country.
Sakib was rewarded for his 213 runs including a match-winning century in the five-match series against New Zealand, which Bangladesh won 4-0 under his stewardship.
Number one all-rounder for nearly two years, Sakib is second in the bowling chart behind Kiwi captain Daniel Vettori.
He overtook Tamim Iqbal as the best Bangladeshi batsman following his heroic performances in the Kiwi series. Sakib, however, is sill far behind his best ranking of 19th position.
Tamim, who missed the series for a wrist injury, is ranked 36th in the batting chart. In the latest rankings released on Monday, Bangladesh’s left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak made a big move up. Once a regular in the top ten, Razzak climbed eight places to claim 21st position.
