Bangladesh all-rounder Sakib al Hasan regained his number one position in the International Cricket Council’s ODI all-rounder ranking after
Pakistan’s Mohammad Hafeez fared poorly in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy.
Hafeez replaced Sakib at the top after Bangladesh’s disastrous tour of Zimbabwe but the Pakistan all rounder lost out on some ranking points after a few ordinary displays in England.
Hafeez managed only 38 runs in three matches at an average of 12.66 and was also below par with the ball taking two wickets in three matches. It took his ranking points down to 182, five behind Sakib, who has 187 points to his name.
The position of the number one all-rounder revolved between Sakib and Hafeez since January this year when
the Bangladesh all-rounder lost his position due to an injury-forced absence in the home series against West Indies.
A string of poor performances in South Africa meant Hafeez lost it to Sakib in March, but the Bangladesh all-rounder, who returned to competitive cricket in April through the Zimbabwe tour, could barely hold it for a month.
Sakib is currently lying in second position behind South African Jacques Kallis as the top all-rounder in Tests.
