Captain Sakib al Hasan has requested the Bangladesh Cricket Board to grant him a leave when the national cricket team will be traveling to South Africa.
The board has planned to send the team to South Africa to play a warm-up game or two before they go to Zimbabwe for a Test and one-day series in August.
If the plan is approved by the South African board, Bangladesh will leave home on July 18, a day after Sakib returns from England ending his county stint with Worcestershire.
The all-rounder is playing nonstop cricket from October 2010 when the Tigers played against New Zealand in Dhaka.
He followed with a home series against Zimbabwe, Dhaka Premier League, the World Cup 2011, a home series against Australia, the Indian Premier League and Friends LifeTwnety20 in England.
‘He is seeking leave. He has played a lot in the past year and thinks that he needs a break,’ Enayet Hossain Seraj, the chairman
of the cricket operations committee of the board, told New Age on Tuesday.
‘We will decide it at our next meeting of the technical committee on July 4,’ he said.
