Sakib al Hasan will be able to earn a maximum $140,000 if he is selected by any franchise for the upcoming Pakistan Super League Twenty20 tournament.
Pakistan Cricket Board earlier announced to host the first edition of the PSL from February 4-23 in UAE after the sale of five teams for $93 million last week.Instead of holding a players’ auction for the players, the PCB opted for a draft similar to Bangladesh Premier League, which it said will ensure equal competition and financial viability for all the stakeholders.
The draft for the first ever PSL will be held in Lahore on December 21 and 22.
Players placed in the Platinum category will receive $140,000, Diamond players will earn $70,000, Gold will earn $50,000, Silver will earn $25,000, and Emerging players will earn $10,000.
Sakib is among the 27 Pakistani and international cricketers shortlisted in the Platinum category for the soon-to-be-launched tournament.
A total of nine other Bangladeshi players have been shortlisted on different categories, though not all of them are expected to be picked up by the PSL teams.
A team may choose to keep a squad of up to 20.
Bangladeshis shortlisted for PSL draft are — Sakib al Hasan (Platinum), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Mustafizur Rahman, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shahriar Nafees (Gold), Mahmudullah, Anamul Haque, Mominul Haque and Imrul Kayes (Silver).
Sharjah and Dubai will host the PSL matches, designed along the lines of lucrative leagues in India, Bangladesh and Australia.
