Bangladesh all-rounder Sakib al Hasan has been signed by Melbourne Renegades for Australia’s Big Bash Twenty20 league, the franchise and the player confirmed on Wednesday.
Sakib will provide cover for the departing Andre Russell, who will join the West Indies ODI squad in South Africa, for the second half of the league. ‘I kept you all waiting for this news, but yes it has been confirmed that I will be playing for Melbourne Renegades!,’ Sakib wrote in his official Facebook page.
‘I am really excited to join them soon, as you all are also excited for me’, he said.
Renegades said they are also excited to have got the signature of Sakib.
‘We were looking for someone who could contribute across the board for us and being able to call on the top ranked T20 all-rounder in the world is a terrific boost,’ coach Simon Helmot said.
‘He brings plenty of experience and cool head under pressure.’
This will be Sakib’s second stint at the Big Bash, having represented Adelaide Strikers for two matches last season.
