The Bangladesh women’s national cricket team, weakened by the absence of their major bowling strength Khadizatul Kubra, will be led by Salma Khatun as the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced a 15-member squad on Wednesday for the tour of India starting from April 2.
Kubra, who played a significant part in the national set-up and Sharmin Akhter Supta were rested by the BCB as they are set to appear in the Higher Secondary Certificate exam.
‘It is a major blow as Kubra was our main bowler,’ said coach Oshadi Weerasinghe on Wednesday.
‘I am confident that the new players will take this opportunity to prove themselves ,’ she added.
Fahima Khatun, a middle order batter will be the only new face as she is expected to make her debut in the team.
