Screening of Oscar titled movies in city

All of this year’s Oscar awarded movies are hitting at the screens from today in the city, as the Alamgir Kabir Film Centre organises a film festival to host the movies at its auditorium in the Science Laboratory Road. The screening will be held at 6:00pm.
The organisers will screen today, the biggest blockbuster of Hollywood-Bollywood combination, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, (120 minutes, 2008) directed by Danny Boyle that took to the red carpets of Oscar. The film bagging eight Oscar awards will remain on the screen tomorrow as well.
With two awards, the film ‘Milk’, (128 minutes, 2008), directed by Gus Van Sant of the United States will be screened on May 8. Stephen Daldry’s ‘The Reader’, (124 minutes, 2008) is scheduled for screening on May 9.
The film starring Kate Winslet as Hanna Schmitz, the central character of
the movie has won
Oscar in the Best Actress category.
‘The Dark Knight’, (152 minutes, 2008), directed and co-written by Christopher Nolan of the United Kingdom, will be screened on May 15. The film’s been awarded for late Heath Ledger’s last best performance as the Best Supporting Actor and another for Best Sound Editing.
The film ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’, (96 minutes, 2008), written and directed by Woody Allen of the US, will be shown on May 16. The film has won one Oscar this year for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons’ (166 minutes, 2008), directed by David Fincher of the
US will be screened on May 22. The film has
won three awards for Best Art Direction, Best Makeup and Best Visual Effects.
‘The Duchess’, (110 minutes, 2008), directed by Saul Dibb of the UK will be screened on May 23. It’s won the Oscars for the Best Costumes.
Best Animated Feature ‘WALL-E’, (120 minutes, 2008), directed by Andrew Stanton of the US will be shown on May 29.
The concluding day of the festival will be marked by the best documentary feature, ‘Man on Wire’, (94 minutes, 2008), directed by James Marsh of the UK on May 30.
Tickets priced at Tk 30 will be available before the screening in front of the centre.
