The Securities and Exchange Commission has made its executive director Anwarul Kabir Bhuyian an officer on special duty.
The commission sent to Anwarul an official order signed by the SEC chairman, Ziaul Haque Khondker, withdrawing him from the responsibilities of the listing and supervision and regulation of markets and issuer companies departments Tuesday afternoon.
The SRMIC department supervises stock exchanges and deals with complaints lodged against issuer companies as per securities laws.
Anwar was also relieved from his responsibilities as the spokesperson of the commission.
‘I got the order,’ Anwarul told reporters.
On January 12, SEC member Mansur Alam resigned from the commission.
The two decisions came following a stock market debacle that resulted in violent street protests by small investors.
