There will be seven new captains, including six national team members, when the Dhaka Premier League begins today. National team opener Tamim Iqbal will lead the new-look Brothers Union, while dependable all-rounder Nasir Hossain will captain reigning champions Victoria Sporting Club. Prime Bank will be captained by left-arm spinner Enamul Haque jr.In-form Marshal Ayub will skipper the newly-promoted Kalabagan Cricket
Academy, while all-rounder Farhad Reza will take the reins of Prime Dholeswar. Nazmul Hossain Milon will captain Cricket Coaching School.
Experienced domestic campaigner Faisal Hossain rounds out the list of new captains, calling the shots for newly-promoted Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity.
None of the seven have any prior experience captaining sides in the DPL, Bangladesh’s most prestigious 50-over competition.
The remaining DPL teams will have experienced captains at the helm, particularly Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, who will be led by national team skipper Mushfiqur Rahim.
Tigers vice-captain Mahmudullah Riyad will be the skipper of the Gazi Tank Cricketers.
Mashrafee bin Murtaza will act as the skipper of Mohammedan Sporting Club, while Shahriar Nafees will lead Abahani Limited.
Kalabagan Krira Chakra announced Sakib al Hasan as their captain.
