Hasina, Khaleda greet the allrounder
Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan celebrated his 26th birthday yesterday, two days after he was adjudged the best player of Asia Cup Cricket 2012.
He cut a cake at a dinner hosted by Bangladesh Cricket Board at a city hotel in the evening. All members of the national team, BCB directors, selectors and coaches, and journalists were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia wished Shakib on his birthday.
Prime minister’s special assistant (media) Mahbubul Hoque Shakil conveyed her greetings to the former Bangladesh captain. Hasina said she hopes Shakib would bring more success for the country in the years to come.
UNB adds: On behalf of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, party’s assistant secretary for sports affairs Raihan Amin Rony presented a bouquet to Shakib at his Mirpur residence in the capital.
The BNP chief’s press team member Shamsuddin Didar and former BCB joint secretary Rafiqul Islam Babu accompanied Rony, party sources said.
