Renowned singer Khairul Anam Shakil is going to release his upcoming solo Nazrul Sangeet album titled Benuka on Friday
featuring some evergreen Nazrul songs.
Benuka will be the seventh solo album by Shakil who firmly believes in the quality of work. ‘The album will feature 12 songs of different tastes including raga based songs, ballads and ghazal based songs,’ Shakil told New Age.
‘Nazrul was a versatile musician and through the album I wanted to record the poet’s dexterity in creating music of different genres. Besides, these songs have immense popularity among the people,’ added Shakil, who is also the general secretary of Chhayanaut.
The songs of the album include Nilambari saree porey, Musafir muchhrey akhi jal, Tomar akhir moto akasher duti taara, and others.
‘I have combined classical and western instruments for a few songs, I hope the audience will like the fusion,’ Shakil shared with New Age. The music has been directed by Durbadal Chattopadhyay, an acclaimed music director from Kolkata, West Bengal.
Whenever the singer decides to launch an album, at first he selects songs that he likes the most and then he practices them regularly until he is satisfied that he will be able to present them with absolute precision.
‘Nazrul songs are not easy to perform; therefore, rendering them accurately requires prolonged practice and hard work. Hence, releasing an album requires a lot of planning and devotion,’ said Shakil.
Bengal Foundation has produced the album.
