Midfielder Enamul Huq Sharif was appointed as the captain of the Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Clubs football team on Monday.
Mohammedan’s football committee chairman MA Salam unveiled Sharif as the skipper of the team at a ceremony at the club premises. Coach Shafiqul Islam Manik was also present on the occasion.
Sharif was upbeat about his team’s prospect this season. ‘We have been practising hard and the players are ready to mark their presence on the field with the traditional black and white shirts,’ said Sharif.
Manik praised the fighting spirit of his skipper. ‘He never gives away and works hard with the ball, I hope he will be able to inspire the team,’ said Manik.
Mohammedan have confirmed the services Nigerian midfielder Emeka Christian Ibe, defender Emeka Lucky Uti, Rwandan midfielders Ismail and Amani and Ghanaian goalkeeper Al Hasan.
Mohammedan start their season with a second round match of the Federation Cup against Muktijoddha Sangsad KC at the Kamalapur stadium today.
