Shilpakala’s preservation plan continues
The demand for preservation of the legendary mystic bard from greater Sylhet region Hason Raja’s works will see the light of the day soon.
The director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky said that seventy per cent of the project titled Hason Raja Academy
had already been completed.
The academy expects to open the project by the end of this year.
The proposed taka seven crore Hason Raja Academy project in Sunamganj district includes funding for an academy building equipped with an auditorium and a museum which will preserve the mystic bard’s songs.
‘We have formed a committee including the experts for preparing the staff notation of 50 songs composed by the bard. We will also publish 36 songs in three CDs. All of these works will be preserved in the museum,’ Liaquat Ali Lucky told New Age.
‘The documentation process will end in three months,’ he said.
Lucky further informed that the academy had received 10 portraits of Hason Raja done by different leading portrait artists. ‘We commissioned top portrait 10 artists to make Hason Raja’s portraits to be displayed at the academy,’ Lucky said.
‘We expect a documentary featuring Hason Raja’s complete biography to be finished in three months,’ the Shilpakala Academy’s DG said.
Bibesh Roy has been selected to make the documentary by a selection committee comprising of leading filmmakers including Morshedul Islam, Manzare Hassin Murad and Shamima Aktar.
‘I will start filming as soon as the political situation clams down,’ Bibesh Roy told New Age.
‘I am also from Sunamganj and it is a great opportunity for me to make the documentary on the great bard of the region,’ said Roy, who had earlier made a documentary on the harvest in the haor region titled Dhaner Kabbya.
‘As per the instructions of the academy, the 30-40 minutes film will cover Hason Raja’s biography from his childhood to his death. But, I want to make it a longer one to depict the family tree of the mystic poet from a zamindar family,’ Roy told New Age.
‘The family members of Hason Raja are still alive and I have planned to take their interviews for the film. And I will shoot the documentary in the places bearing the memories of Hason Raja such as Kulaura, Sylhet, Sumangonj and others,’ Bibesh Roy added.
