In the last four months, Shohoz-Synesis-Vincen-JV, Bangladesh Railway’s ticketing partner, issued about one crore train tickets.
According to a news statement issued on Thursday, Shohoz on an average issued 80,000 to 1 lakh tickets each day, both online and at counters in the stations.
Shohoz-Synesis-Vincen-JV, the ticketing service provider, began issuing train tickets on March 25 of this year. According to the terms of the contract with Bangladesh Railway, this new vendor began issuing tickets from the counters of 77 stations simultaneously on that day using the counter panel software.
Over 16 lakh tickets were distributed between Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha. More than 14 lakh individuals have registered for online booking using Bangladesh Railway’s new official ticketing website and Rail Sheba App, the release added.
On February 15, Shohoz-JV and the railway administration inked a contract for the operation of the train ticketing system.
In accordance with the contract, they must finish all of the actions related to developing the railways’ digital platform within 18 months of the project’s commencement.
A new Rail Sheba mobile app as well as the official Railways booking website with a ticket-counter panel have already been developed, and Shohoz-JV has been offering regular services for the past four months.
Shohoz’s public relations manager, Farhat Ahmed, stated: “As per the agreement with the railway authorities, we are continuously working to provide digital ticketing services with more comprehensive, automatic, and advanced capabilities within the next 18 months. Passengers would feel more at ease purchasing tickets once all development work has been finished.”
