The Bangladesh Football Federation is thinking positively to appoint Slovenian Ermin Siljak as the head coach of the national team on a short-term basis after the second meeting between BFF and Siljak on Tuesday. Earlier, the 41-year old former Slovenian international submitted his curriculum vitae to the BFF president Kazi Salahuddin, who was searching a replacement for the former Dutch coach Lodewijk De Kruif.
After an hour long discussion with Siljak, the BFF president said that they were interested to appoint the Slovenian coach for a two to three-month period.
Keeping in mind about the friendly match against Japan U-21 team next month and the Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Tournament in January, BFF president proposed Siljak to work with the national team for the short-term period and the coach also agreed.
‘Nothing was finalised but as we have a friendly match against Japan in December and Bangabandhu Gold Cup in January, we are positively considering him,’ Salahuddin said on Tuesday.
‘We are not thinking about a long-term deal before watching him in the field.’
Siljak said he is eager to work with the national team despite having very little knowledge about Bangladesh football.
‘I watched some matches of the national team and the players are very good, but before watching them in the field, it is not right to make any comments,’ said Siljak.
Siljak, who has a UEFA pro-license, will visit BKSP today to watch the coaching facilities.
