A month-long event portraying the rich cultural diversity of Bangladesh begins in the French capital Paris on March 31.
Alliance Francaise de Dhaka and Chittagong,, Bangladesh Brand Forum and Foundation of Alliance Francaise in Paris will jointly organize the event titled ‘Alliances en resonanc/Le Bangladesh a Paris’ (The echo of Alliances/ Bangladesh in Paris) to celebrate the 40th anniversary of independence of Bangladesh.
The event includes painting, photography and craft exhibitions and music concert, said the organisers at a press conference at the Alliance Francaise de Dhaka on Wednesday.
Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith and cultural affairs minister Abul Kalam Azad are expected to be present at the inaugural function.
Addressing the press conference, Alliance Françoise executive committee president Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury said the event will be a good platform to showcase the progress and prospects of Bangladesh through an artistic venture.
Speaking on the occasion, project curator Nazia Andaleeb Preema hoped to continue organising such programmes every year in different parts of the world.
Alliance Françoise directors Saliha Lefevre and Samuel Berthet, and France Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry director Rifat Rashid also spoke at the press conference.
A group photography exhibition with photographs of country’s 14 eminent photographers including Anwar Hossein, Shahidul Alam, Abir Abdullah, GMB Akash and Munem Wasif will be part of the event, the organizers said.
A fortnight group painting exhibition featuring artworks of 19 eminent Bangladeshi artists like Shahabuddin Ahmed, Hashem Khan, Kalidas Karmakar, Murtaja Baseer, Mohammad Iqbal, Naima Haque, Gautam Chakrabarty and Nazia Andaleeb Preema has been planned.
Bangladeshi band ‘Don’t Ask’ will perform in the musical concert during the event.
