The Bangladesh national women’s cricket team received a blow on their ongoing tour of India as spinner Ayesha Rahman Shuktara was reported to the International
Cricket Council for a suspect bowling action, said an ICC press release on Thursday.
The off-spinner was reported by on-field umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Ulhas Gandhe after the conclusion of the first one-dayer between India and Bangladesh in Ahmedabad on Monday. She is now required to submit an independent analysis of her bowling action to a member of the ICC panel of human movement specialists.
Bangladesh Cricket Board’s women’s wing chairman Enayet Hossain Siraj had called a meeting on Monday to discuss the matter and take a decision about the rehab process required for Shuktara.
‘There is no video footage of her bowling action so we cannot decide immediately about her rehab process,’ Siraj told New Age on Thursday.
Bangladesh lost both the ODI and Twenty20 international series against India.
The Bangladeshi women cricketers lost the three-match T20 series by a 3-0 margin while they are trailing 2-0 in the three-match one-day international series.
The last one-dayer will be played today and the women’s team will return home on Saturday.
