All-rounder Shuvagata Hom on Wednesday expressed hope to win the series in Zimbabwe and South Africa where he will lead the Bangladesh ‘A’ side in month-long tour.
The side was to leave for Africa on Wednesday night to play some one-day matches along with some three-day and four-day matches in those two cricketing countries.‘I want to win the series,’ said Shuvagata. ‘We have preparation match in South Africa and matches with Zimbabwe ‘A’ team. Our target is to win the series, one-day and the longer version games,’ he added.
The -28 year old was confident on his team-mates, most of whom are contending to get into the national team.
‘Our team is consisted of the players who have played well in the national team, HP [High Performance Unit] and domestic cricket. Hopefully we will bring some result from the Zimbabwe series. ‘
‘I have discussed with all the players in the squad, everyone is eager to give their best. ‘
Hom admitted that the main focus of the ‘A’ team players is to showcase some individual performances so that they can get into the national side.
‘Everyone thinks about individual performance while playing in the ‘A’ team as that helps one to get into the national team. At the end of the day those individual performances is beneficial for the team.’
Shuvagata, who was recently discarded from the Bangladesh Test squad, was determined to make some good personal performance to bring himself back in the national side.
‘I will try to perform whenever I get chance with bat or ball. I hope I can return to the national team by performing well in the series.’
