A renowned artiste of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, Bipul Bhattacharya, died at a city hospital this morning. He was 58. He was suffering from lung cancer. Bhattacharya, a freedom fighter was among those who used their creative abilities to inspire the nation during the Liberation War. He was a member of the troupe ‘Bangladesh Mukti Shangrami Shilpi Shangstha’ which traveled to and performed at refugee and freedom fighter camps during the war.
He was born in Kishoreganj district in 1955.
Sammilito Sanskritik Jote president Nasiruddin Yusuf Bachchu told newsmen that the mortal remains of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste would be kept at the Central Shaheed Minar on Saturday at 11 am for people to pay their last respect.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed profound shock at the death of Bipul Bhattacharya, renowned folk singer and an artiste of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.
