Different singers of the country will present recently demised legendary singer Manna Dey’s evergreen songs in phono-live concerts and live musical programme today.
Sumon Chowdhury and Alak Sen will render Manna Dey’s songs at the special phono-live programme titled Icchey Gaaner Dupur to be aired at 2:30pm on Maasranga TV. Besides presenting selected songs, the duo will cover Dey’s numbers in response to the viewers’ requests.
Rezawanul Haque will present Dey’s popular songs in a similar programme at 5:00pm on RTV titled E Naam Roye Jabe.
At his solo music programme at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, Anup Barua will present Manna Dey’s timeless Bangla songs and those melodious Hindi playbacks which gave Dey a different height in the Bollywood.

Terming Dey a great inspiration to his music career Barua said, ‘I always practice his songs.’
‘I have chosen some very popular Bangla songs such as Ami phul na hoye, Sabai toh sukhi hotey chay, Jokhon keu amay pagol boley, Sundori go and Coffee house-er sei addatta. I will also render Hindi playbacks like O mere jobra zabin tujeh malum nehi and Puchhona keise main-e at the show,’ Barua said.
Born in 1919 in Kokata, in a career spanning over five decades, Manna Dey, who died on last Thursday in Bangalore in India at the age of 94, recorded over 3,500 songs in Bangla, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada and Assamese.
He was honoured with various awards during his life time, including the Padma Shri (1971), the Padma Bhushan (2005) and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2007).
