A total of 6 journalists, two in Bangla category, two in English category and two for online category received Best Reporting Award-2021 by Dhaka University Journalists Association.
DU vice-chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman and pro-vice-chancellor for academic matters Professor ASM Maksud Kamal handed over the awards at a programme held at Teacher-Student Centre Auditorium on DU campus.
Each awardee received a certificate, crest and prize money.
The award recipients in Bangla print category are Asif Hawlader of Prothom Alo and Arefin Soriyat of Daily Ittefak while Obaidur Rahman Sohan of New Age and Mohammad Rayhan of Daily Sun received the award in English Print Category.
Sirajul Islam Rubel of Bangla Tribune and Al Sadi Bhuiyan of Jagonews24.com received the award for online category.
Also, at the programme, the new DUJA executive committee with Mamun Tusher of Alokito Bangladesh and Sirajul Islam Rubel of Daily Star as president and general secretary respectively, took charge of the office for 2022.
Among others, Ekushey Padak winner freedom fighter in journalism Ajay Dasgupta, DUJA founding members Aftab Uddin Manik and Mashiur Rahman, chief election commissioner Borhanul Haque Samrat, the outgoing president Mehedi Hasan and general secretary Sazzadul Kabir were present at the programme.
