A business executive was electrocuted at Badda, a woman was killed in a road accident at Ramna, three women committed suicide at Dakkhin Khan, Adabar and Badda and a factory worker died, reported to be from snake bite, at Mirpur on Saturday and Friday night, the police and hospital sources said.
Babu Ahmed, 25, manager of the MR Power IPS company, came in contact with a live wire when he was closing the business house on Bir Shestra Rafiqul Islam Road at Madhya Badda on Saturday evening.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital but the physicians declared him dead.
Suraiya Akhtar, 30, was killed when an unidentified vehicle knocked down her on Minto Road in Ramna at about 1:30am, leaving her critically injured.
A patrol of the Ramna police rushed her to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she died after a few hours.
Sharifa Akhter Sumi, 19, committed suicide in Dakkhinkhan by hanging herself from a ceiling fan after an altercation with her husband over a trifling matter on Friday night, said the police.
Lucky Akhtar, 20, another housewife, committed suicide in Badda in the same manner after an altercation with her husband over a family dispute on Friday evening, said the police.
The police, after being informed, sent the bodies to the DMCH.
Lima Akhter, 26, sustained critical injury as she tried to commit suicide in her house at Adabar by hanging herself from a ceiling after an altercation with her husband over a trifling matter on Friday, the family said.
She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the afternoon and died on early Saturday.
The Pallabi police recovered the body of a ceramic factory worker, Akhtar Hossain, 17, from Section-12 at Mirpur on Friday night. They suspect that he might have died of snake bite as his body bore marks of two fangs.
