As part of its Eid special programme, Channel i will air the 2008 Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire on the second day of Eid at 11:10am. The film has been dubbed into Bangla for the special airing.
Slumdog Millionaire has been directed by Danny Boyle, written by Simon Beaufoy, and co-directed by Loveleen Tandan. It is an adaptation of the novel Q & A by Indian author and diplomat Vikas Swarup. Set and filmed in India, the film tells the story of Jamal Malik, a young man from the Dharavi slum of Mumbai who appears in Kaun Banega Crorepati? and exceeds people’s expectations by arousing the suspicions of the game show host and of law enforcement officials.
Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for 10 Academy Awards in 2009 and won eight, the most for any film in 2008, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
