The 10th National SME Fair-2022 will be held from November 24 to December 3 to promote SME enterprises and diversify their markets.
350 stalls will be accessible at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka for SMEs to demonstrate their products and collect orders.
130 of the 325 participants are fashion-related. Participating industries include food and agro-processing, handicraft, leather, jute, ICT, light engineering, and plastics.
In addition to the fair itself, there will be seminars on five topics for SME entrepreneurs: easy financing, women entrepreneurship, technology, ICT, and cluster development.
The SME Foundation has created the ‘National SME Entrepreneur Award 2022’ in male and female categories to recognize SME entrepreneurs.
Each of the five categories will have six winners this year.
SME Foundation started the fair in 2012. Since then, 1,886 enterprises have sold Tk 32.88 crore and received Tk 53.50 crore in orders.
Nearly a fourth of Bangladesh’s GDP comes from cottage, micro, and SME businesses.
Women run 7.21% of Bangladesh’s 10 million SMBs and 68 million cottage industries.
According to the 2013 Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics Economic Census, the country had 78.8 million businesses.
Out of these, 87.52 percent are cottage industries, 1.33 percent are micro, 10.99 percent are small, 0.09 percent are medium, and 0.07 percent are large industries.
The fair will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
