The country’s ICT software exporters have aimed to attain $1 billion software export landmark within five year, as the country has already achieved $100 million milestone. To reach the goal, Bangladesh needs to develop 1.5 to 2 lakh IT graduates with global standard skill and expertise, they said.
Their optimism came at a discussion that organised by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services in a city hotel today to celebrate the achievement of $100-million software export landmark.
The industry people also laid emphasis on the country’s branding in globally, as it would help Bangladesh to attract more buyers to the booming sector.
They said Philippine, Vietnam, Thailand and Pakistan are being the destination for software after India due to the branding of these countries.

Speaking as chief guest, ICT secretary Nazrul Islam Khan said the government is working to establish hi-tech parks in every divisional headquarters so the young IT graduates would get opportunity to flourish their potentiality.
He said the government has directed all the public universities which have computer science department to establish ICT labs and train the student on apps developing.
The ICT secretary hoped the upcoming ‘3G’ or Third Generation mobile services would help the country’s outsourcing industry.
