Commercial film director Sohanur Rahman Sohan is planning to launch an institute very soon which, he intends, will be a place for enthusiasts to learn acting, direction, cinematography and other film related skills
from efficient and noted professionals.
Mainly self-financed, the institute will be named
Universal Performing Arts Institute. ‘Famous film personalities, technicians, directors, actors, and cinematographers will be invited to teach at the institute,’ Sohan told New Age.
The institute will run six-month to one year certificate courses. Upon course completion, students will be awarded certificates by the institute.
‘I will also try to give opportunities to the students in my films, and promote them to others,’ Sohan informed.
Sohan will soon be directing his 31st film Bhalobasar Cheyeo Ektu Beshi, where he will introduce four new faces- Srabon Khan, Abbas Khan, Masuka and Pinky.
‘Working with newcomers is challenging and often rewarding. I enjoy the obedience, eagerness and enthusiasm of the newcomers’, says Shohanur Rahman Sohan.
Already the debutantes are taking lessons on acting from their director Sohan. The film with a romantic storyline and scripted by Abdullah Jahir Babu will be shot beginning on June 5 and is expected to be completed by September according to the director.
Besides being a noted film director, Sohan is also credited to introduce Dhallywood stars like late Salman Shah, Mousumi, Shakil Khan, Sakib Khan and others into the silver screen world of the country.
