Musical band Sohojia presented songs from its debut album Rangmistry launched on Monday at an open air concert at the Bakul Tala of the faculty of fine arts at Dhaka University.
Audience enjoyed the strong message oriented songs presented by
the band at the concert.
Other bands and solo artistes also performed at the concert.
A joyful moment was created by the talented band Sohojia while presenting the title song of the album Rangmistry. The band got repeated applauses from the audience as the band performed a song on the ‘Shahbagh movement’ titled Shahbag-er gaan.
The audience also enjoyed the presentation of other songs such as Oppekkha and Bhule jao shabnam from the debut album.
Another band, Chitkar, presented its hit number Ekhon bhangchurer samay at the programme.
Noted singer cum poet Kafil Ahmed delighted the audience presenting his popular songs such as Manush-e manush-e kato na katha thak-e and Gangaburi.
Earlier, Kafil Ahmed unveiled the cover of the album as the chief guest at the launching ceremony. Noted theatre activist Sankar Saojal, a teacher of the political science department of Dhaka University Shantonu Majumdar and the leader of the band Shironamhin Ziaur Rahman Zia, among others delivered speeches at the album launching ceremony.
Sohojia’s album Rangmistry contains nine songs including Oppekkha, Boka pakhi, Rangmistry, Chokh-e chokh-e, Bhule jao shabnam, Betha diyo na, Swapner akash, Khela and Ma.
The album has been dedicated to Kafil Ahmed for his contribution in Bangla music, said the band members.
The current lineup of the band is Rajib Ahmed Raju on vocal; Alvi, Soumo and Rajib on guitars; Jafri on bass and Rabby on drums.
