5,58,444 male & 5,05,040 female candidates to sit for

Examinations of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent 2009 under education boards will begin on February 15 with 10,63,484 SSC examinees.
At a press conference yesterday, Education Minister Nurul Islam Naheed said the government has taken all necessary steps to hold the examinations fairly and cautioned all concerned not to be involved in any kind of corruption during examinations.
He urged students, teachers and other officials involved with the examination process to discharge their respective duties without corruption and irregularity.
“The government is determined to take stern action against students, teachers and other officials who will indulge in corruption and unfair means during examinations,” he added
About increasing number of examinees this year, he said the numbers of SSC examinees are 10,63,484 this year which are 50,183 candidates more than those of the previous year.
From 26,239 educational institutions the students will appear at the examinations to be held at 1,888 centres across the country.
He stated that 801,709 general students will appear at the SSC examinations to be held in 922 centres under 8 general education boards including newly formed Dinajpur education board, 186,718 madrasa students in 490 centres under madrasa education board and 75,057 vocational students in 476 centres under technical education board. Besides, 254 candidates will appear at seven overseas centres. The numbers of male candidates are 5,58,444 while those of female are 5,05,040.
All results of SSC and equivalent examinations will be published simultaneously on May 25, 2009, said Education Minister.
