The Secondary School Certificate examinations of 2024 are likely to start from the second week of February, according to a notice issued by different education boards on Tuesday.
The Higher Secondary Certificate examinations of 2024 are likely to start from the second week of June, another notice issued by the boards on the same day said.
While the SSC examinations will be held on full syllabuses of all subjects, on full marks and time, the HSC examinations will be held on the rearranged syllabuses same as the 2023’s examinations.
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka chairman Tapan Kumar Sarker said on Tuesday that the notices mentioned the expected date of these examinations.
About the HSC examinations, Tapan, also the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee president, said these examinations would be held on all subjects, time and marks in 2024.
This year the SSC and its equivalent examinations began on April 30 across the country.
The HSC and its equivalent examinations began under eight general education boards from August 17 and under the Chattogram board, the Bangladesh Madrassah Education Board and the Bangladesh Technical Education Board on August 27 as the examinations were deferred at the latter three boards for flood situation.
Some guardians alleged that the examinees of 2023’s HSC and equivalent exams got time for preparation much less than those in previous years as they got admitted to the colleges in March 2022.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the HSC and equivalent examinations of 2022 took place in November that year and the SSC and equivalent examinations of 2022 took place in September.
Usually, every year the SSC and equivalent examinations start in the first week of February and the HSC and equivalent exams start in the first week of April.
In 2020, SSC and equivalent examinations were held as usual, while the HSC and equivalent examinees were awarded grade points using the subject-mapping method.
In 2021, the SSC examinations were held in November and the HSC exams in December.
