Bangladesh ‘A’ team coach Heath Streak said on Friday that he was delighted to see his charges taking the game away from the hosts despite making a modest total to level the three-match one-day series against India ‘A’ Bangladesh scored 252-8 on the back of Nasir Hossain’s unbeaten century and later dismissed the hosts for 182 runs to earn a 65-run victory at Bangalore on Friday.
‘250 on that wicket is a low score,’ Streak told reporters at the post match briefing.
‘We lost early wickets, which were disappointing, but the boys fought back,’ he said.
Streak, who takes care of the national team pacers, was delighted with the way Rubel bowled, who picked up four wickets.
‘It was a good sight to see. I thought it was a very fierce spell,’ he said.
‘He was really quick and there was a bit of grass on the wicket. Mominul [Haque] brought him on in the middle overs to get wickets and that’s exactly what he did. When he is in good rhythm, anything can happen,’ said Streak.
The Zimbabwean though believes that his batsmen could put up a much better show.
‘If you stay on the wicket for 10 to 15 overs then it becomes an excellent wicket to bat on’, said Streak.
‘They know that they can do better. We just need to be a little bit more cautious and capitalise towards the end.
‘I thought Liton [Das] and Nasir were once again brilliant and the tail-enders batted responsibly. Our bowlers were obviously really good and we also did exceptionally on the field,’ said Streak.
Nasir, who scored unbeaten 102 and then grabbed 5-36, said that he enjoyed batting down the order and knew if he could carry till the 50th over, they had a chance of winning it.
‘I always prefer to bat in this position and as I have batted there earlier. So, I think the experience was valuable,’ said Nasir.
‘I felt that I needed to bat till the 50th over as the wicket was good and planned my innings accordingly,’ he said.
