Government officials and development activists at a workshop in Rajshahi on Saturday stressed the need for strict monitoring to stop the misuse of foreign aids.
They said that due to the lack of proper monitoring system the foreign funds were being misused depriving the grassroots people.They also recommended the formulation of a policy to ensure proper use of foreign funds.
The workshop on ‘Towards Ensuring Better Results and Accountability of Foreign Aid: Reaching out to Stakeholders’ was held at a community centre in Rajshahi city.
The workshop was jointly organised by the Economic Relations Division and the multi-donor supported Aid Effectiveness Project.
The workshop was attended by various stakeholders including local government representatives, academics, civil society representatives, government officials and media people.
Rajshahi divisional commissioner Helal Uddin Ahmed addressed as chief guest at the workshop chaired by deputy commissioner of Rajshahi Mohammed Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury.
