Abahani-Doleshwar match shifted to BKSP from Mirpur
The Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis on Wednesday revised the fixture of Dhaka Premier League match between Abahani Limited and Prime Doleshwar, which raised quite a few eyebrows.
The ninth round match between Abahani and Doleshwar was scheduled to be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday but now it is shifted to the BKSP.Prime Doleshwar official lambasted the decision of CCDM and suspected some fishy motives behind it.
Abahani need two wins out of their remaining three games to reach the super league, played between the top six teams of the tournament.
‘I am disappointed,’ Doleshwar’s joint secretary Mostak Hossain told New Age on Wednesday.
‘I don’t know why it was shifted and when we contacted CCDM, they could not give any valid reason behind it,’
‘It is an important match for us and this sudden development caused all sorts of confusion.’
Prime Doleshwar are currently second in the points table.
When contacted CCDM’s DPL co-ordinator Amin Khan said that they had to shift the game in order to entertain a request of Prime Bank.
‘Prime Bank wanted to play at the SBNS so we had shifted the game for them,’ said Amin.
‘There is nothing related with Abahani into it.’
Prime Bank manager Saiful Islam said that they had not made any formal request to CCDM to change their venue and only asked it during a casual conversation.
‘We had requested them to give our 10 and 11th round match in SBNS and it is not uncommon as all teams want to play here,’ said Saiful, indicating the request was made after receiving the initial fixture of eight and ninth round.
According to some club officials, the sudden change of CCDM to accept a request of Prime Bank is quite confusing as they earlier did not allow the same club to use video analyst in their league matches.
The behaviour was lambasted by their board director Tanjil Chowdhury, who criticised BCB through a post in Facebook.
Abahani manager Sheikh Mamun said they don’t have any objection playing anywhere.
‘We are ready to play anywhere,’ said Mamun.
Prime Bank will take on Cricket Coaching School at the SBNS on Saturday though earlier they were scheduled to play in Fatullah.
