The professional league committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation has decided to preserve the prize money of the Super Cup to Tk one crore, despite initially planning to reduce it by half.
The Super Cup is scheduled to be held in November, confirmed Abdus Salam Mursehdi, chairman of the professional league committee after a meeting on Tuesday.`To sustain the attraction of the Super Cup we decided that the prize money for the champion team (Tk one crore) will not be reduced,’ said Murshedi, also the senior vice president of the BFF.
Murshedi informed that the champion team will be awarded Tk one crore while the runners up will receive Tk 20 lakh and the other participating teams will pocket Tk 10 lakh each.
The other details of the tournament will be finalised in the next meeting.
The decision to shift the Super Cup to November means that the BFF were unable to keep their earlier promise made at the start of the season.
It was announced that the top teams will get to feature in at least four competitions in the season – Federation Cup, Bangladesh Premier League, Independence Cup and Super Cup.
`We will not arrange the Super Cup this season due to the upcoming engagements of the national team but we decided that all four tournaments will be organised from next season and the season will start with the Super Cup,’ said Murshedi.
‘From the next season we will try to organise some tournaments outside Dhaka and the club representatives have agreed with this issue,’ said Murshedi.
